Sweet Relief at 9 Weeks

Well gang, I am so happy to say that baby Butler is doing just fine.  We had our first ultrasound today and everything went great!! We even got a parking space close to the front door and that never happens at Summit.  I was so nervous that perhaps this was going to be too good to be true.  As soon as the doctor came in, she didn't want to talk about anything.  She wanted to verify that there was a heartbeat and that there was only one baby.  Both were confirmed today and we couldn't be happier about it.  It still seems surreal that we are actually pregnant but we are.  So now the flood gates are open and we can finally tell people that we are expecting.  Dr. McGuire said that once the heartbeat is confirmed, we have a less than 5% risk of miscarriage.

Now my dilemma is how to break the news.  Of course we will have to reveal it on the all mighty Facebook but I am sort of hesitant to do that.  I know how it made me feel when I was struggling with fertility to see other people's ultrasound photos.  I just don't want to seem insensitive or like I never had that infertility battle.  I know that may seem weird but I don't want to ever let on that we are above all of the struggles we went through.  However, we are certainly happy to have overcome every hurdle and perhaps I can be uplifting to other women/couples who need hope.  At any rate, there is definitely a baby cooking in there and we are in love already.   You guys should have seen Mr. Wonderful's grin when we saw the heartbeat.  It truly was a sweet relief!  So we are 9 weeks along and feeling good.  Our due date is January 17 and we find out the gender in August!  So excited...and I will keep you updated on how things are going in the Butler household.  Just did some site seeing now that we arrived on our journey.
